A lot of Superdelegates endorsed Obama - 163 to go! (Update: 161 to go)

May 9, 2008 - No Responses

Seems like Superdelegates are ending (or at least want to end) this race very quickly. After Clinton decided she would stay in the race “until there’s a nominee” (which I respect), Superdelegates are coming out and endorsing Obama.
Here’s what happened in the last hours/days:
· May 7th
* North Carolina Democratic Party Chairman Jerry Meek
* North Carolina DNC member Jeanette Council
* California DNC member Inola Henry
* Virginia Superdelegate Jennifer McClellan

· May 8th
* Congressman Brad Miller
* Rep. Rick Larsen (D-WA)
* Rep. Peter DeFazio (D-OR)
* Rep. Donald Payne (D-NJ)

· May 9th (so today ;))
* AFGE President and Superdelegate John Gage
* California DNC Member Ed Espinoza

==> Right now (7:45 pm GMT): Obama needs 163 to secure this nomination! <==

UPDATE (10 pm GMT)
* Democratic Party Vice Chair in South Carolina Wilber Lee Jeffcoat
* New Mexiko Superdelegate Laurie Weahkee

161 to go! :)

Did Clinton really win Indiana?

May 8, 2008 - No Responses

Clinton got votes from some Republicans in Indiana. A good thing?! Well only if they really support your campaign (like some Republicans, who are on Obama’s side), but if they only vote for you, cause they want their candidate (McCain) to win in November, it’s not. Or is it?
7% of Clinton’s votes in Indiana came from Republicans, who said (after voting for her) not voting for her in November, but for John McCain. 7%!! Clinton ‘won’ Indiana by 2%, so this means Obama was up by 5%, doesn’t it?
Now, ask yourself: Did Clinton really win Indiana?

· Clinton also cancelled ALL TV appearances for this morning and ALL public meeting. She has to think about dropping out of this race.
Even former Sen. George McGovern, an early supporter of Clinton, now urged her to drop out and endorsed Obama! After last night, he said: ‘It’s virtually impossible for Clinton to win the nomination.’

Hillary, do it!

Barack ‘Unstoppable’ Obama!

May 7, 2008 - 4 Responses

First of all, I have to inform you about Indiana:
Clinton: 51% (5641,734 votes)
Obama: 49% (623,294 votes)

Clinton will gain a maximum of 4 pledged delegates. But Obama WON this Tuesday, cause of his big win in North Carolina.

Now, Barack Obama only needs 33 pledged delegates (of 217 remaining) to be the winner of this primary elections. And Clinton, who loaned her campaign $6.4 mio. over the last month!! And Clinton was in the red even before the Senator from New York stepped up television advertising ahead of Pennsylvania’s primary (April 22).
==> How can someone like this become our next president?!? <===

Clinton needed a BIG victory in Indiana and a very close race in North Carolina. Some folks even said, Clinton would be up in Indiana by 7-12% and up in North Carolina by 3-5%. But as we all know by now, OBAMA won North Carolina by a large margin and he could close this gap in Indiana.

It is now nearly impossible for Clinton to close this biiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiig gap in pledged delegates. Even though, she is seen as ‘favorite’ by some folks for the West Virginia primary next Tuesday. But then comes Oregon, Obama is still up there in polls by 15-20%!

Let’s have a look at this Delegate Calculator:
If Clinton would win ALL remaining contests and ALL EXCEPT Oregon by 100%, it would only be a tie:
tie

She HAS TO win West Virginia, Kentucky, Puerto Rico, Montana and Soth Dakota by 100% and then WIN Oregon by 57% to have a lead of 2(!) pledged delegates:
clinton win

Obama is really unstoppable!

Obama wins NC! (IN still too close to call)

BARACK OBAMA WON NORTH CAROLINA!!!
Thanks to everyone!

Here’s the victory speech:

Obama also just send out this email:

Friend –
We just won a decisive victory in North Carolina thanks to people like you.

Indiana remains too close to call. But what is clear is that we did much better than all the pundits predicted, despite Republicans changing parties to support Senator Clinton, believing she would be easier for Senator McCain to defeat.

Here’s where we stand.

As of Tuesday morning, we needed just 273 delegates to clinch the nomination. When the votes are fully counted Wednesday morning, we will have gained more than a third of them in a single day.

We have a clear path to victory. But now is the time for each one of us to step up and do what we can to close out this primary.

· Indiana is still too close to call. Right now, with 95% reporting:
Clinton: 51% (606,497 votes)
Obama: 49% (589,888 votes)

They are still counting in Indiana. Maybe we won both.

More to come in the upcoming hours.

Indiana and North Carolina join us!

May 5, 2008 - One Response

Tomorrow, people from Indiana and North Carolina can stand up and join our movement.

Believe in America again:

Believe in truth, North Carolina:

Believe in truth, Indiana:

Don’t you believe that ‘enough is enough’:

That there should be more jobs here in America?

That we shouldn’t just talk about problems? That we should actually solve them? It’s your chance in this election to actually start solving problems:

Vote for Obama, who isn’t just inspiring young folks, but also old folks, as well as Republicans and Independants:

We are at a defining moment in our history. Our nation is at war. Our planet is in peril. Our health care system is broken, our economy is out of balance, our education system fails too many of our children, and our retirement system is in tatters.

If you really want to change Washington and solve the problems, we are facing today. Then North Carolina and Indiana join us tomorrow. It’s a “once in a lifetime opportunity”
